Universal Studios Camping Trip.

Day 1

We arrived at Bill Fredericks Park around 4:30 this afternoon and hooked up. This is a beautiful City Park operated and maintained by the City of Orlando.  Not bad for $20/night. We brought the Grandkids with us to stay the night before Steph and Keith come up tomorrow. They're going to Universal Studios and Islands of adventure and the six of us are staying in the RV tomorrow night.

Our nephew Rob and Denise live in nearby Apopka so they came by with their boys and Robs Mom (Jeanell) to visit and join us for grilled sausage and all the fixings. We all had a great visit since we don't get to see them that often.   After the cookout we all took a walk down along the shore of Turkey Lake and took in the beautiful view.

Time for a family photo, this park is awesome.

Day 2

Our daughter and husband are headed up this morning to take the Grandkids to Universal this morning. A long time high school friend of hers came by and had breakfast with us with her kids. Steph & Keith arrived around 11 and they all headed for Islands of Adventure. The weather was threatening rain as usual in Central Florida in mid Summer.

Debbie and I decided to go check out a nearby Camping World store and all we bought was a yard flag "It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere. The store was very well stocked with RV parts and accessories.

It was threatening rain so we decided to go shopping at the Millenia Mall and I think everyone in the Orlando area was there too. We couldn't even get into the parking lot so we stopped at Home Depot and Target and picked up a few misc items and headed back to the campground.

The kids called and were lucky enough to get a reservation for everyone at Margarittaville City Walk for dinner. Debbie and I headed over and waited under the giant Margarittaville Volcano and indulged in a few at the bar until they arrived.

Dinner was excellent with jambalaya, cheese burgers in paradise, shrimp and fish sandwiches Jimmy Buffett style. The super tall guys on stilts made balloon hats for all the kiddos.

After dinner it had quit raining and we strolled around City Walk to take in all the sights and lights, then headed back to the camp ground. We invited Kristin's daughter to stay with us, so we had an RV full of people spending the night, 7 total.

Everyone sacked out around 10, but Keith and I sat out under the canopy in the rain then turned in around 11.

12 Volt Power Issues

The other day, I went by to do some routine maintenance and exercise the generator and on entering the coach, I heard a faint continuous squeeling noise.  I couldn't tell where it was coming from.  I tried starting the generator, but it wouldn't turn over at all.  I'm still not familiar with the 12v/110v systems in an RV but I assumed it was a dead house battery.  I also had noticed that the battery disconnect switch located on the left side of the steps didn't seem to work when I switched it On or Off.

Independence Day Get-A-Way

Day 1 - Changes In Latitude - Changes In Attitude
Thursday, July 2, 2015

We loaded up the RV early Thursday morning and headed South for a change in lattitude and a change in attitude. Stopped in Boynton Beach to pick up our son Scott and daughter-in-law Halle and made the trek down Floridas Turnpike to Florida City, the gateway to the Florida Keys. Traffic wasn’t too bad and we came up on Jewfish Creek and decided to get acclimated for a long Keys weekend and stopped for a fresh grouper sandwich and rum runners at Gilbert’s! Yummy as usual!

Day 1 - Headed for Fort Myers Beach
June 11, 2015

We started out early Thursday morning around 9am, the motor home packed and ready for our first outing. We have reservations at Red Coconut RV Resort on Ft Myers Beach. The Grandkids were asking every 10 minutes, “are we there yet"?
